Niagara Falls, Ontario

We got a late start on our trip. Really, does that surprise anyone?? We had to run by the bank (they don't keep Canadian dollars on hand, FYI) and the camera shop. Pretty random, I know! We bought a new camera and didn't have a bag for it. We bought one the night before, along with an additional lens but the lens and the camera didn't both fit in the bag. Bummer. The camera shop had one we liked. And they were willing to part with it for $129.99. No thanks.

We finally got on the road around 12:30. After we started off our good ol' road trip with Micky D's. Nothing but the best for us!

The trip up wasn't bad. We went through Cleveland (around it technically), Erie, PA, and Buffalo, NY.

Buffalo, NY...a little sad

It was almost dark when we got to our hotel so we didn't get to see the Falls until dark. They put on a light show every night that lights up the water different colors. Our pictures didn't really turn out of that. We had an awesome view from our room (40th floor of the Embassy Suites...closest hotel to the Horseshoe Falls) but wanted to see them up close. We asked the concierge how to get there and he said it was "a 15 minute walk." Later we found out everything is "a 15 minute walk." He also failed to mention how steep the incline was. And it was freezing. And it was midnight. But it was fun!

After our walk to the Falls at midnight....

view from our room the next morning

After we checked out of The Embassy, we went back down to the Falls before heading out to Toronto. We met a nice couple from Texas who had just come from Toronto. They were nice enough to give us their map. We didn't have a map, didn't have hotel reservations or any plans at all...really we knew nothing about Toronto!

These pictures were taken at the "top" of the Falls, which would be Lake Erie. There is almost always a rainbow there and it's SO PRETTY!

And there you have it...Niagara Falls, Canada (not to be mistaken for the NY side... let's just say I'm SO glad our passports got here in time!)

And on to Toronto...
